Driving with meth in the car is risky, but the risk is even greater when you’re driving on a barred license.

That’s lesson a North Liberty man apparently failed to learn on Sunday after he was arrested on felony charges under those same circumstances after a similar incident last month.

The latest arrest involved an Iowa City Police officer noticing 38-year-old Dustin Stucker of the Golf View Estates manufactured housing community driving a 2010 Ford Fusion in the parking lot of the Gilbert Street Kum & Go just after 6:15 Sunday night. The officer knew Stucker was barred from driving until 2031.

Stucker was arrested early last month for a similar driving while barred incident on South Lucas Street. A search of the vehicle in that case reportedly turned up methamphetamine and a bong.

Stucker was asked if he had any drugs on his person during the Sunday traffic stop. He allegedly looked down at his right jacket pocket, and police say about a gram of meth was found inside. A digital scale and two bank cards with Stucker’s name on them were found inside the vehicle.

Stucker is charged with a Controlled Substance Violation and Driving While Barred. If convicted on the latest charges, he faces a maximum of 12 years in prison.  He has previous convictions on felony meth charges in Johnson and Cedar counties.
