University of Iowa Police are investigating a reported sexual assault.
According to a news release from the UI Department of Public Safety, school officials received a report of a sexual assault that occurred last Friday night or early Saturday morning at an east side residence hall. The assault was reportedly perpetrated by an acquaintance.
UI Police records list the incident as a 3rd Degree Sexual Assault. Under Iowa law, a conviction under that count would lead to a maximum sentence of ten years in prison.
No other details about the incident have been released.
