The executive director of the Center for Worker Justice of Eastern Iowa has announced her plans to resign from her role in the coming months.

The Daily Iowan reports that they obtained a copy of the statement Mazahir Salih submitted to the CWJ’s board of directors. She wrote that serving in the position has been an honor but has taken a toll on her and her family. She said it was time to step away and focus on family commitments.

Salih is a co-founder of the organization, which began in 2012 to combat wage theft, support immigrant families, and fight for improved affordable housing in the area. She says she will work with the board of directors to find a replacement and make as smooth a transition as possible.
