Multiple fire agencies responded to a blaze in downtown Washington Saturday afternoon.

Crews were called to Greiner Buildings on East Main Street just after 4pm after smoke and flames were seen coming from the top of the building. Neighboring businesses along the square were evacuated, and a two-block radius was blocked off as fire departments from Washington, Riverside, Kalona, Wellman, Wayland, Brighton and Ainsworth tackled the blaze.

There were no reported injuries or damage estimates. The investigation continues.
