Cedar Rapids Police have made an arrest in a shooting Tuesday that left a man injured.
Just before 12:30pm, officers were dispatched to the 300 block of Jacolyn Dr SW for shots fired and possible injury. Officers arrived on-scene and found an adult male suffering from what appeared to be a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.
The victim was able to offer a description of an alleged suspect after telling officers a verbal altercation turned physical.
Officers located the suspect a short time later and detained him after finding evidence tied to the shooting.
36-year-old Taylor Deres of Cedar Rapids was taken to the Linn County Jail and faces charges of Willful injury and Use of a Dangerous Weapon in the Commission of a Crime. If convicted on both counts, he could be sentenced to up to seven years in prison.
Police say their investigation continues.
