University of Iowa Police are investigating a reported residence hall burglary.

According to a news release from the UI Department of Public Safety, on Sunday UI Police received a report of a potential burglary in an east side residence hall. The reporting party shared that an unknown person entered their unlocked residence hall room during the early morning hours and went through their drawers, though nothing was stolen.

The UI Police online daily crime log shows a reported burglary at Catlett Hall between 5 and 5:30 Saturday morning.

UI Police strongly encourage all residence hall occupants and those in the campus community to lock their doors at all times, even if they are only leaving their rooms for a short time. Residents are also encouraged to report suspicious activity immediately by calling 9-1-1.
