A transient faces charges that he threatened to shoot staff at an Iowa City business after he was caught stealing pizza.
Iowa City Police say at approximately 5:45 Saturday night 34-year-old Alex Floyd walked into a business near downtown and stole approximately $8 worth of pizza. When confronted by staff, Floyd allegedly stated he had a gun and reached into his waistband.
Police caught up with Floyd near the corner of Gilbert and Court Streets. He reportedly showed signs of intoxication and gave officers a fake name and date of birth.
Floyd, who lists his address as Community Crisis Services on Gilbert Court, is charged with 1st Degree Harassment, 5th Degree Theft, Public Intoxication and Providing False Identity Information. If convicted on all charges, he faces a maximum of 27 months in jail.
