A pair of Washington County residents was arrested early Saturday morning after Iowa City Police say one of them was caught urinating outside an Iowa City bar.
Arrest records indicate officers were on foot patrol outside H Bar on South Van Buren Street just before 1:30 Saturday morning when they observed 26-year-old Jamouri Hollingsworth of Washington urinating in an alley. He was allegedly trying to shield a baggie of marijuana under his arm. Hollingsworth was arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance.
Police then conducted a probable cause search on a nearby vehicle after one of its occupants…identified as 31-year-old Erica Rangel of Washington…allegedly claimed to have smoked marijuana inside. Investigators say they found a pink box with eight individually packaged baggies of a white powdery substance they claim Rangel admitted was cocaine. A green, leafy substance believed to be marijuana was allegedly found in Rangel’s purse.
Rangel is charged with a Controlled Substance Violation and Possession of a Controlled Substance. If convicted on both charges, she faces a maximum of six years in prison.
Hollingsworth faces a maximum penalty of one year behind bars, if convicted.
