US News and World Report issued their college rankings report Sunday night, and the University of Iowa showed gains, especially in the writing program.
The Daily Iowan reports that the UI tied with Yale University for the second spot in the writing in the disciplines program and is the only public university in the top ten. The ranking is a significant jump from the university’s previous ranking of 10th overall in 2021.
Other results published showed the undergraduate bachelor’s of nursing ranking moved from 10th to 9th, and the Tippie College of Business moved from 36th to 34th in undergraduate business programs. The accounting program moved from 50th to 35th overall. Other positive increases included actual graduation rate and financial resources, percentage of classes with 50 or more students, and student to faculty ratio. Drops in rank were seen in graduation retention, alumni giving rate and social mobility.
Overall, the University of Iowa is ranked 35th best among public institutions, a drop of two positions, but remained 83rd overall among all public and private schools.
