An Iowa City man who allegedly fled after a domestic incident was arrested after driving while barred.
On the evening of July 22nd, 30-year-old Raymond Osborne of Camden Road got into an argument with his wife and reportedly kneed her in the leg. He then allegedly pushed the woman, which caused her to fall back and strike her head against a wall.
The woman left the residence to get away from Osborne; Osborne reportedly fled the scene taking his wife’s 2015 Fiat. A check of Osborne’s driving record showed his status as barred for being a habitual offender. Osborne also has a previous Domestic Abuse Assault conviction in Johnson County from 2020.
A warrant for Osborne’s arrest was issued on July 25th; he was taken into custody Monday night. He’s been charged with 2nd offense Domestic Abuse Assault and Driving While Barred. If convicted on both counts, Osborne could be sentenced to up to four years in jail.
During his initial appearance Tuesday, Judge Jason Burns issued a no-contact order and released him to the Department of Correctional Services. Future court dates are yet to be set.
