North Liberty trucker Heartland Express has announced plans to buy out another company.
CBS2 reports that the deal, worth $525 million, will make Heartland Express the eighth largest truckload fleet and the third largest irregular route, asset-based truckload carrier in the United States.
They will be purchasing the Contract Freighter’s non-dedicated US dry van and temperature-controlled truckload business, and CFI Logisitica operations in Mexico.
In a press release Monday, Heartland Express President and CEO Michael Gerdin said CFI’s strengths in the north-south Midwestern corridor will add to the company’s customer capability, and their cross-border expertise will also be of huge benefit.
