A Coralville man was taken into custody early Monday after a domestic incident turned physical.

According to the police report, officers were dispatched to the Iowa Lodge on the Coralville Strip for a 911 hangup. Arriving officers were met by both parties involved. The alleged woman victim said that her live-in partner, 22-year-old Pedro Fabian Cobo, came home drunk and wanted to kick her out of the apartment.

The woman was lying in bed with their child when Fabian Cobo reportedly began grabbing at her, causing scratch marks on her arm. A short time later, as she was in the doorway to the apartment smoking, Fabian Cobo allegedly tried slamming the door on her. Once back in bed, he then began digging his elbow into her back, and proceeded to grab her around the neck. He also pulled one of her arms behind her back, causing pain.

The woman is pregnant with the couple’s second child.

Fabian Cobo was taken into custody, charged with Domestic Abuse Assault Impeding Airflow, a Class D Felony punishable by a prison term of up to five years if convicted. A no-contact order was requested by the woman.
