An Iowa City woman was taken into custody on warrants stemming from the illegal sale of narcotics.

Members of the Iowa City Police Department reportedly conducted a controlled purchase of marijuana in a parking lot on the 2500 block of Cascade Lane on February 18th. 18-year-old Libby Frantz of 2nd Avenue and an unnamed co-defendant delivered 14 grams of the drug during the incident.

Then on March 3rd, another alleged sale took place in the 2000 block of Hollywood Boulevard. On that occasion, Frantz sold 9 pills in exchange for cash. The pills were advertised by Frantz as “xans,” a nickname for Xanax. The ones that she reportedly sold had markings consistent with Alpraxzolam. Frantz also allegedly stated that she was going in with other people to order 500 pills.

The pills were sent to the DCI lab and were found to be counterfeit.

A warrant was issued for Frantz’s arrest June 3rd; she was booked at the Johnson County Jail early Monday morning. She was charged with a Class D Controlled Substance violation, and Delivery of an Imitation Controlled Substance. If convicted on both counts, Frantz faces a prison term of up to seven years.
