A Davenport woman was arrested Saturday after she was allegedly found in possession of marijuana and a handgun.

Police say 21-year-old Lataya Johnson was a passenger in a black Saturn SUV stopped by officers for not having license plates. Upon contact, the odor of marijuana was allegedly coming from inside, and a probable cause search was conducted.

Johnson stepped out of the vehicle, holding a purse. She was searched by an officer, who discovered marijuana and a handgun inside. An open container of alcohol inside a plastic bag was also reportedly found on the front passenger side of the vehicle where Johnson was sitting.

Johnson faces charges of being a person ineligible to carry a dangerous weapon and marijuana possession. She could be sentenced to up to two years in jail if convicted on both counts.
