An Iowa City woman was taken into custody Tuesday afternoon after a warrant was issued for her arrest on burglary charges.

According to the criminal complaint, 38-year-old Conny Stucker of North Dodge Street drove a red Hyundai Elantra to meet a man At Mint Salon and Barbering on the 1300 block of South Gilbert Street around 3 am on August 8th, despite being barred from driving as a habitual offender.

Between 3 and 4:30 am, the two allegedly committed and attempted burglaries and thefts at businesses in the area.  They entered Mint Salon at about 4 am while the business was locked and closed. Video confirmed that Stucker and an unnamed co-defendant took over $6500 in cash and merchandise, including various hair products and cutting shears.

Stucker is allegedly seen on the video wiping down areas she touched with a rag, presumably to remove her fingerprints.

The business posted pictures of the two alleged burglars on their social media. Numerous responses to the pictures and tips to CrimeStoppers identified Stucker and the other person. When interviewed, Stucker admitted being involved and identified herself and the co-defendant on the video, but denied stealing anything.

A warrant was issued Monday, and Stucker was taken to the Johnson County Jail Tuesday afternoon. She’s been charged with 3rd degree Burglary, 2nd degree Theft, and Driving while Barred. If convicted on all counts, Stucker could be sentenced to up to 12 years in prison.
