A North Liberty man has been arrested after allegedly giving a woman a ride last month and refusing to stop to let her out.

According to the arrest warrant, the incident occurred the evening of July 28th around 10:45. A North Liberty police officer observed a white truck drive by her at the intersection of Forevergreen Road and Highway 965. The passenger door was open, and as it started to close was opened again and again. A woman inside was reportedly screaming.

The passenger was later located, and had a scratch on her neck and a bruise on her arm. She told the officer that 42-year-old Nathan Davis of South Dubuque Street had been giving her a ride. The woman told Davis multiple times to let her out, but he allegedly refused to stop the vehicle. When she attempted to get out, Davis reportedly put her in a choke hold and grabbed her arm to keep her inside. The woman used her free hand to unlock the door, kick it open and scream to get someone’s attention.

The incident put the woman in fear.

A warrant for Davis’ arrest was issued on Wednesday; he was booked into the Johnson County Jail Thursday morning. He’s been charged with False Imprisonment, a serious misdemeanor punishable by a jail sentence of up to one year if convicted.
