Cedar Rapids man charged with attempted murder

Cedar Rapids police have made an arrest after a Monday night attempted murder incident.

According to a release from the Department, officers responded to a call for shots fired at about 7:25 pm on the 1300 block of 11th Street Northwest. According to the victims, 30-year-old Isaiah Martin III had a verbal altercation with them. The female driver and her son were then reportedly shot at by Martin.

Police found evidence of gunfire in the area and bullet entry points of the woman’s vehicle; however, neither person inside was struck by gunfire.

Martin was located several blocks away with a firearm. He was arrested and taken to the Linn County Correctional Center, where he faces charges of Attempted Murder, Domestic Abuse Assault with intent to Injure with a Weapon, Intimidation with a Weapon, Going Armed with Intent, Criminal Mischief, Child Endangerment, and Neglect of a Dependent Person. If convicted on all counts, Martin faces a prison sentence of over 56 years.
