A transient with a chronic history of trespassing while panhandling is back behind bars after being cited three times in one day.

Iowa City Police say 29-year-old Porscha Curry violated previous trespass warnings at the Muscatine Avenue Kum & Go and 1st Avenue Hy-Vee on July 7th. Officers first responded to the Kum & Go for a report of Curry panhandling in the parking lot just after 11:15am. She was charged with trespassing.

Just after 1:15 that afternoon police were called to the 1st Avenue Hy-Vee for a report of Curry harassing customers for money. Arriving officers found her once again in the Kum & Go parking lot. She was then charged with two counts of trespassing, as well as Possession of Drug Paraphernalia after a pipe used to smoke illegal drugs was found in a bag she was carrying.

Just days earlier Curry had been charged with trespassing at the Town & Campus Apartments on July 1st, and the same Kum & Go and the Muscatine Avenue Walgreen’s on July 4th.

After the July 1st arrest, police say a meth or crack pipe was found in Curry’s bra during booking at the Johnson County Jail.

Last month, Curry was arrested for violating a standing trespass warning at the 1st Avenue Hy-Vee issued after she was accused of multiple thefts. She allegedly told the arresting officer that after she got out of jail she was going to buy a gun and shoot him in the head. She also allegedly threatened to shoot the next officer who spoke to her, and any other officers who responded.

A one-hitter pipe with burnt marijuana residue was reportedly found on Curry’s person.

Curry is also awaiting trial on charges that she assaulted an Iowa City transit driver last November, causing an injury to the driver’s leg.

In all, Curry is currently facing charges of Assault Causing Bodily Injury, 1st Degree Harassment, two counts of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and six counts of Trespassing. If convicted on all counts, she faces a maximum of over three years in prison.
