Coralville man accused of stealing bikes from UIHC

A Coralville man who was reportedly seen on surveillance video stealing two bikes from the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics was arrested Wednesday after allegedly being found in possession of another stolen bicycle.

According to the criminal complaints, 47-year-old Jeremiah Johnson of the Iowa Lodge on the Coralville Strip was seen removing a $1000 Specialized bike from the UIHC Emergency Department east bike rack just after 5pm June 9th and riding away with it. A second incident reportedly  occurred in the 1 South bike rack Sunday June 26th around 3:20 am. In that incident, surveillance allegedly shows Johnson spending about ten minutes cutting the lock off a Ecotric Electric Fat Tire bike valued at $769 before removing it and riding off.

Johnson was spotted on the 700 block of Walker Circle Wednesday morning around 8:30; he was allegedly in possession of a $975 bike that had been reported stolen on November 15th of last year.

Johnson faces three charges of 3rd degree Theft and could be sentenced to up to six years in prison if convicted on all counts.
