Iowa City Police have arrested a second suspect in an alleged drug dealing operation out of an apartment complex.
Police executed a search warrant on the Quarters apartment of 25-year-old Kregory Warren on Highway Six East at around 5pm on January 20th. While officers were making entry into the apartment, Warren reportedly fled to his personal bathroom and flushed several bags of pills, commonly known as “M30s,” which are known to contain fentanyl. One pill didn’t make it, and officers sent It to the DCI lab, where it tested positive for fentanyl.
A further search of the residence allegedly turned up over 1300 grams of raw marijuana, over 600 grams of marijuana wax, over 100 grams of marijuana cartridges, and over 4000 grams of marijuana edibles.
An investigation reportedly determined that Warren was getting the marijuana products through the Postal Service for re-sale, and was involved in a conspiracy with several others to distribute the fentanyl products.
A warrant for Warren’s arrest was issued June 8th; he was taken into custody on June 16th. He’s been charged with a Class C controlled substance violation, a Class D controlled substance violation, and Obstructing Prosecution. If convicted on all counts, Warren faces a prison term of up to 17 years.
Another suspect, 22-year-old Isaiah Vaughn, who lists his address as the same as Warren’s, was taken into custody on a warrant issued June 9th Monday afternoon. He was charged with a Controlled Substance Violation and promoting or assisting at a Gathering for Use of Marijuana. He could be sentenced to up to 11 years in prison if convicted.
