An Iowa City man who allegedly fled police responding to a domestic disturbance faces a possible prison sentence after reportedly being found with a large quantity of marijuana.

Police responded to the South Van Buren Street residence of 21-year-old Veondre Dillon Saturday night just after 10 o’clock on reports of a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival, Dillon allegedly ran out the back of the building. Officers chased and caught him after he ran several blocks.

After being taken into custody, Dillon reportedly had a plastic bag in his pants containing 8 individual baggies of marijuana weighing 48 ½ grams.

Dillon has been charged with Interference with Official Acts for running from police. Additionally, he faces charges of Marijuana Possession, a Controlled Substance violation, and Failure to Affix a Drug Stamp. If convicted on all counts, Dillon faces a prison term exceeding 11 years.
