Iowa City man with long criminal history charged with attempted vehicle burglary

An Iowa City man with a long history of criminal activity was arrested again Monday night after allegedly attempting to burglarize a vehicle.

Police say 20-year-old Jeiden Fair of Amber Lane was seen on the 2200 block of Russell Drive around 8:50pm attempting to enter a vehicle via the passenger front door in the driveway of a private residence. Witnesses provided a description, and positively identified him when police found him nearby.

Fair has a history of theft convictions, and most recently was arrested on May 24^th for allegedly stealing liquor from the Kwik Star on Keokuk Street. On February 2^nd , Fair was charged with 3rd Degree Burglary of a Motor Vehicle, Attempted 3rd Degree Burglary of a Motor Vehicle and Possession of a Controlled Substance. A case management conference scheduled for earlier this month was delayed to June 27^th.

Fair has been charged with 3^rd degree Attempted Burglary for Monday’s incident. He faces up to two years in jail if convicted on that charge.
