The 10th and final Iowa Ladies Football Academy is happening Saturday, and organizers are hoping that a record turnout will help surpass the $3 million mark in fundraising for the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital. As of earlier this week, over 550 women had signed up for the event, 30% higher than ever before. The event had to be cancelled the last two years because of the pandemic.
While the Academy is strictly for women who have signed up and raised money for the program, organizers have set up an online form for anyone who’d like to contribute. Go to https://uigoldrush.org/ladiesfootballacademy to donate.
So far, the previous nine Academies have raised over $2.3 million. The first million raised went to the building fund, while the second million was donated for pediatric research. The remaining money, and what’s raised this year, will be used to endow an additional full time Child Life specialist, who will focus on meeting the emotional and developmental needs of children who are hospitalized.
Information and sign up details for tomorrow’s Ladies Football Academy are available at www.iowaladiesfootballacademy.com.
