The Domestic Violence Intervention Program, or DVIP, is facing funding cuts of up to 22 percent, and is going outside the box to fill the funding gap.

In a release Wednesday, DVIP announced a partnership with local artists for a punk rock show fundraiser at the James Theater on June 24th. All proceeds will benefit victims and survivors of domestic violence in the community.

The show is being produced by Mark Nolte and Joe Moreland who mockingly call themselves Loose Nut Productions, and will feature  Dave Zollo and the Body Electric covering The Blasters; Ready, Cassette, Go Go covering the Go-Go’s; City Park covering X; and the band Plastic Relations covering Social Distortion.

Alta Medea is the Director of Community Engagement at DVIP. She says that the funding cuts come at a time when the group continues to see an uptick in the needs for their services.  If additional funding can’t be secured, she predicts a drastic reduction in the number of victims and survivors they will be  able to serve.”

Doors will open at 6:30 on the 24th, with the show starting at 7. Tickets are $22 advance, $25 at the door. All proceeds benefit victim/survivors in our community.
