An Iowa City woman who was arrested less than a week ago for trying to run over a woman with her car and then allegedly coming at her with a knife and taser earlier this month has been arrested again, this time for pepper-spraying her live-in partner.
The couple were reportedly at their Broadway Street apartment at approximately 4:45pm Sunday when 20-year-old Arionne Collins assaulted the victim by hitting them in the face with the pepper spray, causing pain and discomfort.
Collins was taken into custody and charged with Domestic Abuse Assault causing Injury, a serious misdemeanor. A no-contact order was requested between the couple.
Police say that there were no prior domestic assaults on Collins’ record, but less than a week ago she was arrested on a warrant for going to a woman’s place of employment and allegedly trying to cause her harm.
Police say that incident occurred the morning of May 9th at the Comfort Inn and Suites on East 9th Street in Coralville. Collins was reportedly upset with the other woman, and allegedly tried to run over her with her car.
Collins then reportedly got out of the vehicle and came at her with a knife and a taser, threatening to kill the woman. Collins was then near the woman’s car when a manager came out. She fled the scene when the woman threatened to call 911. Afterwards, it was discovered that the woman’s rear tire had been punctured.
A warrant was issued two days later, and Collins was booked at the Johnson County Jail on May 24th. She was charged with 1st degree Harassment and 5th degree Criminal Mischief. With the new domestic charge, Collins faces up to over three years in jail if convicted on all counts.
