A Cedar Rapids man who allegedly helped someone steal gaming cards was arrested on theft charges this week.

The incident occurred the evening of February 21st at the Video Games Etc. location on 8th Street in Coralville. 35-year-old Michael Cinkan of 2nd Avenue Southeast entered the store with an accomplice. While Cinkan was distracting staff, the accomplice  concealed a binder of game cards in a tote bag the accomplice brought into the store. The two men left the store without attempting to pay for the items.

The two then went to the Cedar Rapids location of Video Games Etc. the next day and resold the binder to the store for $99.  Cinkan completed a trade in form, providing his name, phone number, and driver’s license number. The retail value of the binder was somewhere between $300-$400.

A warrant was issued for Cinkan’s arrest, and he was taken into custody on 4th Degree Theft charges Wednesday afternoon. If convicted, he faces up to a year in jail.
