An Iowa City man wanted on an outstanding warrant was arrested Tuesday afternoon after he was allegedly found in with a sealed package of a popular strain of California marijuana and ecstasy pills.
21-year-old Andre Smith of North Dodge Street was taken into custody on a warrant issued May 2nd for failure to appear at his case management conference regarding a driving while barred charge.
During a search of his person at the Johnson County Jail, Smith allegedly had a sealed baggie of Gushlato marijuana, a strain made in California that CaliPlug dot org describes as a strain with a high THC content that should be used “close to the day’s end to intensify its unwinding, narcotic impacts” to make the most of it.
Smith also reportedly had three multicolored pills in a baggie that he told deputies was purchased as ecstasy.
Smith was charged with first offense marijuana possession and first offense controlled substance violation. If convicted on both counts, he could be sentenced to up to two years in jail. The Driving While Barred charge comes with an additional sentence of up to two years.
