A North Liberty man faces charges that he assaulted a co-worker, then attacked and injured an arriving officer.
North Liberty Police say 34-year-old Joseph Short of West State Street was arguing with the alleged victim at a business on West Penn Street just before 7:15 Friday morning. Short allegedly shoved the other person in the back while they were turned around, then spit on them. Co-workers intervened to separate the two.
Arriving officers say Short was threatening and uncooperative towards them. He allegedly physically fought with officers as he was being taken into custody, injuring an officer’s knee in the process.
Short is charged with Assault and Interference With Official Acts Causing Bodily Injury. If convicted on all charges, he faces a maximum of one year in jail.
Multiple businesses are located at the address listed in police records.
