A Coralville man faces charges that he made sexual threats to a woman at an Iowa City convenience store.
Iowa City Police say the alleged victim was refueling her car at the Scott Court Casey’s just before 1:00 Monday afternoon when she was approached by 28-year-old LaDarrel Jones of Kodiak Court. The woman told police she locked herself inside her car when Jones began cat-calling her. He allegedly tried to open the locked door handle, then told her he was going to force his penis into her mouth. The woman said at one point Jones took down his pants and exposed himself.
Police responding to the woman’s 9-1-1 call say she was visibly shaken, crying and had dry heaves as a result of the incident.
Jones was arrested at the scene and charged with 3rd Degree Harassment. If convicted, he faces a maximum of 30 days in jail. A no-contact order has been put in place.
Jones made news in 2020 after he was banned from the Coralville Comfort Suites for life for barricading himself inside a room.
