A Sunday morning crash in Washington County resulted in a fatality.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, witnesses reported seeing a vehicle heading southbound on Highway 218 near the 73 mile marker at around 11:45 at a high rate of speed. The 2008 Chevy Impala lost control, entered the west ditch, sailed over a small creek and made contact with a tree.
The victim was identified as 25-year-old Brenden Poole of Ossian, a small town in Winneshiek County. A minor in the vehicle was injured in the accident; their name has not been released.
Multiple agencies arrived on scene and assisted with the incident; the accident is still under investigation.
