After over a year, the University of Iowa’s Strategic Plan Project is nearly complete.

The Daily Iowan reports that a draft was submitted to the Regents in March and the university is currently getting feedback before the plan is finalized and presented later this month.

The 2022-27 Strategic Plan website describes the vision of the UI’s future as a “destination university,” including:

  • Students who want to attend an institution that is known for academic quality
  • Alumni who want to ensure their alma mater is known for academic quality
  • Iowans who want a world-renowned institution rooted in academic quality
  • Researchers and scholars who want to work in an institution that is centered around academic quality
  • Patients who want to receive quality care that is the most advanced through research conducted in an institution that is known for academic quality.

The DI adds that over the past several months, teams have been holding listening sessions, analyzing information, and identifying specific action points while working on the draft. The overall goal of the strategic plan is to make the University of Iowa a place with a welcoming and inclusive culture, one that offers population-specific supports, offers thorough training and policy development, and focuses on recruitment and retention of students, faculty and staff.

The final draft will be submitted to the regents a week from Friday, and the vote to approve the plan will occur during the Board’s meeting on June 2nd.
