A fire at Cole’s Mobile Home Court Wednesday night heavily damaged two units.
According to a release from the Iowa City Fire Department, they were called to a structure fire at 2128 S. Riverside Dr., Unit 46, at 6:16 pm. Firefighters arrived on scene 7 minutes after being dispatched and encountered a large fire in Unit 46, which had also spread to Unit 45.
The occupants of Unit 46 were able to exit the structure. Crews searched Unit 45 for occupants and confirmed it was unoccupied.
Both fires were brought under control at 7 pm. The total loss to both units is estimated at $60,000. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
One firefighter was injured, treated by the Johnson County Ambulance Service at the scene, and released. Two pets remain unaccounted for. No other injuries were reported.
A total of 25 Iowa City Fire Department personnel responded to the scene. The fire department was assisted at the scene by the Johnson County Ambulance Service, Hills Fire Department, and MidAmerican Energy.
The Solon, North Liberty, Coralville and West Branch fire departments responded to Iowa City calls for service during the incident.
