Area public transit entities have lifted their mask mandates.
In accordance with Monday’s federal court ruling striking down the federal mask mandate pertaining to public transportation, and subsequent guidance from the Transportation Security Administration, Iowa City Transit, Coralville Transit, Johnson County SEATS and paratransit users will no longer be required to wear a mask on public transit vehicles or at transit stops.
In separate releases, the transit entities say that while not required, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommend the use of masks while using indoor public transportation, particularly if you feel ill or believe you could be infected with COVID-19.
Coralville Transit says they will still have masks available on their vehicles.
