An area transient who was called in as a trespasser at a local business was arrested after officers discovered he had several warrants.

30-year-old Jamaal Green was called in around 11:30 pm Friday. He was located in the 200 block of South Dubuque Street and was told he was under arrest due to the warrants. Green then reportedly fled on foot as officers were trying to take him into custody. He was captured after a brief foot chase.

Green was taken to Mercy Hospital to be cleared for jail. While waiting, Green reportedly began getting agitated and started to threaten and posture up to an officer. He allegedly refused to get back in the squad car, and kicked at two officers who had to place him inside. Green also allegedly spit on an officer through the open window.

Green was charged with two counts of Interference with Official Acts and two counts of Assault on Persons in Certain Occupations. If convicted on all charges, Green could be sentenced to up to 26 months in prison.
