Visitors to North Liberty parks, trails and other public areas will soon be able to enjoy a tobacco- and nicotine-free environment.

On Tuesday, the North Liberty city council unanimously passed an ordinance that prohibits the use of tobacco, nicotine, vape and other electronic smoking devices in the city’s parks, trails and other city-owned and maintained recreation areas.

The new rules go into effect on Monday. Violations can be reported to the countywide, 24-hour non-emergency contact at (319) 356-6800.
