A Riverside man will be the only Democratic candidate running in the Iowa House District 92 race this election cycle.
23-year-old Ty Bopp was the only candidate to file nomination papers on time for the Democrats. Two Republicans…Washington mayor Jaron Rosien and Heather Hora, also of Washington…will face off in the June 7th GOP primary.
Bopp is a farmer and a former service manager at the Waterfront Hy-Vee in Iowa City. The Iowa City native has interned with state representative Dave Jacoby and state senator Zach Wahls. Bopp graduated from West High and Cornell College and is currently pursuing an online master’s degree in business administration from Eastern Illinois University. He has said the legislature could do more to help farmers and rural residents.
The newly-formed District 92 includes all of Washington County and southern Johnson County, including Hills and Lone Tree. Bopp will face the winner of the Rosien/Hora matchup in the November 8th general election.
