A Florida man is suing a Solon assisted living facility after an employee allegedly stole over $13,000 from his aunt.

50-year-old Tiffany Koss of Swisher faces eight counts of forgery and one count of Dependent Adult Abuse after she allegedly stole $13,600 from 91-year-old Evelyn LaPlace, a resident of the Solon Retirement Village.  Koss was once employed as a registered nurse at the facility, but she was fired following an internal investigation. The investigation showed Koss stole money directly from LaPlace, misused her credit and debit cards, and forged checks in her name.

LaPlace’s nephew, Henry Huber of Lake Worth Beach, Florida, is now suing the Solon Retirement Village for wrongful death, negligence, dependent adult abuse and breach of contract. LaPlace died at the facility in September of 2020. Huber claimed Solon Retirement Village was negligent in his aunt’s death.

If convicted on the criminal charges, Koss faces a maximum of 45 years in prison.
