A Davenport man faces OWI charges after allegedly crashing into a house early Sunday.
Police were called to the 700 block of Kirkwood Avenue just after 1:30 am on reports of a vehicle that had crashed into the side of a house. Upon arrival, they came in contact with 20-year-old Ronald Boston of West 61st Street, who was identified by witnesses as the driver. Boston also reportedly admitted he was behind the wheel of the 2010 Ford that hit the house.
Boston reportedly had the strong odor of ingested alcohol, was wearing bar wristbands, had glassy eyes, and slurred speech. He allegedly admitted to drinking in downtown Iowa City earlier. Officers located open containers and a champagne bottle in and around the vehicle.
After showing signs of impairment on field tests, Boston agreed to a PBT showing a blood-alcohol level of .088 percent. He refused a Datamaster test.
Boston was taken into custody and charged with first offense OWI, unlawful use of a license, failure to maintain control, and being a minor in possession of alcohol. He faces up to a year in jail if convicted on the OWI charge.
