3 injured in 2-vehicle accident between Iowa City and West Liberty

Three people were injured in a two-vehicle accident Friday night between Iowa City and West Liberty.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, a 2012 Dodge Challenger was travelling eastbound on Highway 6 just after 5pm Friday when it sideswiped a westbound 2009 Kia Sportage near the intersection of Highway 6 and Bancroft Avenue, south of Downey. The driver of the Challenger suffered serious injuries and was transported by West Liberty Ambulance to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. The driver and passenger in the Sportage suffered minor injuries.

No names have been released. The accident remains under investigation.
