Man living near Coralville Reservoir accused of threatening hunter near his land

A man living near the Coralville Reservoir faces charges that he threatened a hunter who he felt got too close to his land.

44-year-old Claude Fitzgerald was booked into the Johnson County Jail just after 5:15 Tuesday morning. A warrant for his arrest was issued in January of 2020 after he allegedly threatened a woman he found hunting on public land near his Curtis Bridge Road residence on December 8th, 2019. The victim reported to the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office that Fitzgerald confronted her about being too close to his land.  Statements allegedly included, “Put that gun down and I’ll kill you”, “Walk on my property and I’ll kill you”, “I’ll kick your ass”, “Get your m-fing ass away from my land”, “You dumb m-fer”, “Stupid bitch” and a crass insinuation that she was mentally challenged.

Fitzgerald is charged with 3rd Degree Harassment, a Simple Misdemeanor punishable by a maximum of 30 days in jail.
