Iowa City Police have arrested a man they say has been harassing a city parking attendant.

21-year-old Varun Tulsiani of South Dubuque Street was booked into the Johnson County Jail just after 8:45 Sunday night. According to arrest records, a city of Iowa City parking attendant reported being harassed by Tulsiani around 9am on March 2nd on the 100 block of South Dubuque Street. The victim reported that on two separate occasions Tulsiani approached her, entered her personal space, cursed at her, and followed her around despite being told not to do so.

The attendant was able to provide police with a clear photo of Tulsiani and his car. Once police determined his identity, they contacted him and told him the woman felt threatened. Tulsiani reportedly replied with, “That was me, sir. The reason why I was acting that way was because she was giving tickets.” He then allegedly claimed he told her he was going to make her life difficult.

When told by the officer that he could be arrested for harassment, Tulsiani reportedly replied, “OK, good. Then come after me” and “You don’t know who I am.”

Police were able to match the victim’s photo of Tulsiani with one taken of him after a car crash last month. He’s charged with 3rd Degree Harassment, a simple misdemeanor punishable by a maximum of 30 days in jail.
