A report of a fight involving a knife at an Iowa City mobile home park has led to the arrest of a wanted Quad Cities man.
Johnson County Sheriff’s deputies and Iowa City Police responded to the Sunrise Village manufactured housing community on Scott Boulevard just before 2:15 Sunday morning for a fight involving a knife. Arriving officers found a victim with cuts all over his face and chest.
The victim and another witness told police 26-year-old Maynor Nunez Ramirez of East Moline had cut the victim with nail clippers during a physical altercation.
Nunez Ramirez reportedly admitted to fighting with the alleged victim. He was arrested and charged with Assault Causing Bodily Injury. If convicted, he faces a maximum of one year in jail.
Nunez Ramirez was wanted on an Iowa City warrant after he skipped a January arraignment on an Interference with Official Acts Causing Bodily Injury charge. Iowa City Police say he was one of four people arrested for their part in two brawls outside La Rumba on Lower Muscatine Road in the early morning hours of November 21st. The original fight had broken up just after 1:30am, but it reignited just after 2am, and an officer suffered an injury while taking Nunez Ramirez to the ground as he was trying to flee the scene.
