An Ely woman was arrested Wednesday afternoon after allegedly assaulting an employee at an Iowa City convenience store.

Police say the incident occurred just after 5 pm at the Casey’s on Scott Court. 24-year-old Tina Madison reportedly entered the store and approached an employee, engaging in a verbal confrontation. The worker was in an employee-only kitchen at the business, and Madison allegedly began throwing sauces and other items at the employee from across the counter.

Madison then reportedly entered the kitchen area and engaged in a physical altercation with the worker and other employees, after being held back by multiple workers. She’s accused of punching the victim in the face and pulling their hair out, injuring their scalp.

Madison was charged with Assault while Participating in a Felony, and 1st degree Burglary. If convicted on both counts, she faces a prison term of up to 30 years.
