A Coralville man wanted on a harassment warrant from August 2020 was arrested after an alleged assault at his 5th Street apartment.
Police say the incident occurred around 1:30 am Monday at the residence of 40-year-old Justin Wachter. He was reportedly drinking alcohol on his bed with a woman when he got upset and swung a pillow at her, hitting her in the face.
The woman had a can of beer near her mouth when Wachter swung, causing the can to hit her lip and start bleeding.
A check of court records showed Wachter wanted on a harassment warrant stemming from an incident at the TravelLodge on North Dodge Street the afternoon of August 15th 2020. Wachter was allegedly upset with hotel staff about not receiving a refund, and told the front desk over the phone that he would be coming down to the hotel to shoot the clerk in the head. He later allegedly admitted to having a phone conversation with the clerk.
Wachter was charged with Assault causing Bodily Injury, a serious misdemeanor; the Harassment charge is an aggravated misdemeanor. If convicted on both charges, he faces a jail sentence of up to three years.
