An Iowa City woman was arrested this week after it was allegedly discovered she took a rebate card from her former boss’s mail and used it for herself.
Police say 42-year-old Andrea Casella of East Court Street used a Menard’s rebate card issued to the victim to purchase nearly $500 in personal items for herself the evening of December 23rd. The rebate card was issued to the victim in the amount of $773.42.
Casella is a former employee of the victim, and reportedly admitted taking the rebate card from the victim’s mail and using it on herself because she believes her former boss owes her money. Casella was identified by the victim after he was shown surveillance photos of her using the card.
Casella was arrested Monday and charged with 3rd degree Theft, an aggravated misdemeanor punishable by a jail term of up to two years if convicted. She was released on her own recognizance after her initial appearance Tuesday.
