A West Branch man who claimed to be Tim Dwight in an attempt to avoid arrest last week now faces charges that he was drinking from an open bottle of vodka outside an Iowa City bar and had a breath alcohol level of almost .3%

Iowa City Police were called to Shakespeare’s on 1st Avenue just after 8:15 Tuesday night for an angry customer who was shouting. Officers arrived to find 48-year-old Travis Hill of North Maple Street outside the bar with an open bottle of Popov vodka. Hill allegedly showed signs of intoxication and provided a breath alcohol level of .298%.

Police say Hill physically resisted attempts to take him into custody. He’s charged with Public Intoxication, Interference With Official Acts and Having an Open Container of Alcohol in Public. If convicted, he faces a maximum of 60 days in jail.

Hill was also arrested just before 2:30am on March 6th outside Joe’s Place on Iowa Avenue after allegedly causing problems with staff. Police say he told them he was former City High and Hawkeye football star Tim Dwight. He then allegedly walked down the street, pulled down his sweatpants and urinated on a sign. Hill was charged with Public Intoxication, Harassment of a Public Official, Providing False Identity Information and Public Urination or Defecation.
