The city of Iowa City has hired a new fire chief.
Assistant Urbandale fire chief Scott Lyon will take over as the head of the Iowa City Fire Department on April 4th, pending approval of the city council. The council’s next meeting is set for March 22nd.
The city lists Lyons’ starting salary as $145,000.
Lyon succeeds John Grier, who served as Iowa City fire chief from 2013 until last month after almost 30 years with the department.
