A Michigan man was arrested Thursday night after allegedly setting his father’s car on fire in Tiffin.

Police say 23-year-old Noah Ellison was seen on camera purchasing fuel and walking towards a vehicle on Village Drive registered to his father. He then allegedly set the vehicle on fire, leaving it a total loss.

Ellison was located a couple of blocks away, sitting in a vehicle on Arabian Drive. He was reportedly smoking marijuana when officers contacted him. Ellison allegedly stated that he was homeless and that he was sorry.

Ellison then left with his backpack and was located a short distance later after he was identified as a suspect in the car fire. When asked about the incident, Ellison allegedly said that he was mad at his father and was high.

Ellison was taken into custody and charged with 2nd degree Arson and 3rd Degree Burglary of a Vehicle. If convicted on both counts, he could be sentenced to up to 12 years in prison.
