A local bakery was not open Sunday because the response to their one-day fundraiser for Ukrainian relief was so well-received that they ran out of supplies.
KCRG TV reports that the Eat Shop in Solon raised over $7600 for World Central Kitchen, a non profit group that helps feed people in need worldwide.
Tonya McPherson is an employee at the bakery. She was born in Ukraine and still has relatives there, and started the fund drive. The business matched customer donations, and also donated 10 percent of all sales.
The bakery had triple the business it normally has on a Saturday, and was unable to open on Sunday due to lack of supplies.
