A Swisher resident has been accused of abusing her position as an assisted living facility caregiver, stealing thousands of dollars from a woman who is now deceased.

50-year-old Tiffany Koss of Swisher View Drive Southwest was a registered nurse and the primary caregiver for the victim, who lived at the Solon Retirement Village on East 5th Street. Over a period from early March thru mid-June in 2020, authorities say she used her position to manage access to the victim’s financial data. Koss is accused of using the woman’s Amazon account to ship nearly $1000 in merchandise to her personal residence, and took her on grocery shopping trips where hundreds of cash advances were completed.

In addition, Koss allegedly forged checks to herself and to other establishments to pay for personal expenses.

The victim was dependent on Koss to help her complete basic tasks, including eating, taking medicine, and taking care of her personal hygiene.

Totaling the Amazon shipment, the forged checks, and the other forged checks alone, Koss allegedly stole over $9700 from the woman.

Investigators asked for and got a warrant for Koss’ arrest on February 22nd. She was taken into custody Wednesday and charged with 8 counts of forgery and one count of Dependent Adult Abuse. If convicted on all charges, Koss faces a prison term of up to 45 years.
